Until 2 days ago coal futures were up 12% which strangely had a lacklustre affect on SP.
How mixed news (better than forecast profits, dividend and costs and lower than forecast production ) can cause such a drastic drop in SP is unusual.
remember $2.6 B cash and nearly $1 B in buybacks accounts for over 1/2 the SP!
if they do go for BHP assets it will be for cheap in this market. Looks like YAL are less in the market with their big dividend too.
