The dice are so loaded against Qantas at present (ie Virgin shareholders with bottomless pockets; legacy super-expensive pilots and staff) that I feel something will happen to significantly improve Qantas' situation.
Their international operations have been wiped out, so it is easy to argue persuasively that the domestic operations could conceivably follow.
The government is not going to just stand there and watch Virgin become a monopoly.
