I would say yes for the most part, outside of HFT it just doesn't make a lot of sense - why would today or last weeks price action affect tomorrow (what is the logical basis for this, there is no theoretical grounding).
Medical science of centuries past, much of it amounted to voodoo. If it can't be understood, that doesn't stop people from trying (or pretending), and so we have wall st analysists who need to look busy.
