Dr Chant is not likely to turn anything around by extolling the virtues of the people of Sth West Sydney.
She can tell us however many times she likes how she spent much of her working life there and what wonderful people live there.
Of course there are wonderful people everywhere but the problem is there are certain ethnic groups whose young male members in particular don't like to be told what to do by anybody, much less women in positions of authority. And particularly they reject authority telling them what they can or can't do.
It's in their cultures and any school teacher who has worked in these suburbs, or enclaves might be a better word, can tell you what goes down. They will gather in droves for a funeral of a family member and shed floods of tears but then they will go out and stick a finger up at authority.
Nicely nicely will not get the job done Dr Chant.
