Your take on his role is stupid, and I think it is a shame that Dr Karl has moved more towards being an influencer, but I can see part of his old ways in this video.
I used to see Dr Karl around The University of Sydney a fair bit, good bloke. Back in those days The USYD was prestigious because the lecturers taught people how to think, challenge orthodoxy, use your own brain to piece together evidence and formulate a position.
The mantra about climate denial or believing in climate change is just plain wrong, as Dr Karl points out. You are free not to accept man made climate change, you just have to cite evidence that led you to this conclusion, this also frees people about being so dogmatic about the issue, able to change their mind based on new evidence.
