If nothing changes, Lynas will only be able to continue part of its operations in Malaysia.
Further, it often takes more time and more money than anticipated to build and commission a new plant, as Lynas has already demonstrated. If nothing changes in Malaysia, this poses an existential risk to continued operation of the company if the new plant is not fully commissioned before C&L is forced to shut down in Malaysia. Though an extension might be negotiated, I anticipate it might be attached to another $100M bribe.
I am hopeful, but not blind to the political and operational risks ahead.
