♥-THE 1ST PICTURE SHOWED THE CEO OF LYNAS FEARLESSLY AND FASTIDIOUSLYFONDLING FONDLY THE “DEADLY” WLP.
♥-THE 2ND PHOTO SHOWS ME STANDING ON ALARGE PILE OF WLP WHICH HAS SCARED THE PANTS OFF our terrifiedAnti-Lynas friends in Kuantan. The photo was taken when I visited theLynas plant recently.

THE WLP RESIDUE IS CLASSIFIED AS VLLW (Very Low Level Waste) andcan easily be diluted to below 1 Bq/g to qualify as a material whichis beyond all regulatory controls and is fit to be eaten (if edible)in the USA and the EU.
.
If the WLP, FGD and NUF are not separated, the mixed "waste"radioactivity is only 1.349 Bq/g.
.
If left in the moist form, with about 35% moisture, would have anaverage specific activity of only 0.9 Bq/g even without dilution byblending !
.
♥A RADIOACTIVITY OF 0.9Bq/g IS FIT TO BE EATEN (IF EDIBLE) UNDER US AND EU REGULATIONS!
.
Regulatory limits on radioactivity in foods (source: IAEA)
.
USAfoodstuff = 1.20 Bq/g.
EU foodstuff = 1.25 Bq/g
.
♥ For transportation purposes, A RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL IS DEFINED
AS ANY MATERIAL WHICH HAS A SPECIFIC ACTIVITY
GREATER THAN
a .... > 74 Bq/g (0.002 microCurie) in USA
b .... > 10 Bq/g in Australia and
c .... > 1 Bq/g in Malaysia ! ! !
.
Why only 1 Bq/g in Malaysia ?
.
Because the 1989 MalaysianTransport Regulations are closely based on the out-of-date 1985 IAEATransport Regulations.
.
As a result any material that contains Uranium and Thorium with acombined activity of just 1 Bq/g needs to be regulated by AELB.
.
IT'S TIME FOR MALAYSIA TO UPGRADE ITS STANDARDS TO THAT OF THESTANDARDS OF THE MORE ADVANCED COUNTRIES!
