Meanwhile, Semambau state assemblyman Lee Chean Chung who had campaigned against the Lynas rare earth plant expects the Pakatan government to announce its plans to scrap the construction of new nuclear power plants in the country.

“The previous administration had committed to build nuclear power plants, but the Pakatan manifesto promised that these plans would not continue,” Lee said.

“We expect the new government to announce that (the abolishment of new nuclear power plants) for cost cutting purposes,” he said, adding that this is an immediate step for the country to pursue more green energy sources.
