Dr. Tanzi on NPR's Science Friday, May 27th, page-19

Pixie, It's understandable that most people would be a bit lost here. Take this for what it's worth - the other side of the story - although I'm sure that it's only part of the story. Despite our best efforts it is extremely difficult to know what will happen here in the future, short or long term.

The volume of news at the end of this past week about brain infection and Alzheimer's research by Moir and Tanzi et al, sponsored by CureAlz Fund and National Institutes of Health, points to a very long period ahead for answers possibly leading to primary prevention of AD related to causes from various microbes.

By "other side of the story" I simply mean that the information in several publications doesn't exactly fit with the expectation of some posters here. Their interpretation of the possibility of Prana somehow being involved in this project can't be found in any of the journal articles from Science etc or to the NY Times or to NPR. etc etc. All of the literature that I saw only described examination of P-M brain tissue for possibility of finding evidence of infections in history of those with AD, followed by attempting to prove that each bacterium, fungus or virus could be stopped before amyloid-beta kills brain cells. Moir and Tanzi et al plan that by balancing amyloid-beta by INNATE HUMAN IMMUNITY they can develop antibody vaccines that prevent the occurrence of AD. We know that this subject has been addressed by others and that no-one, including Moir and Tanzi, have ever tested this infection and amyloid-beta hypothesis in HUMANS.

Perhaps some of these posters have information that hasn't been made public, but imho that is doubtful. The recent publicity addressed primarily amyloid, brain infection, and therapeutic antibodies for the establishment of prevention of AD. There was no mention of Prana Biotech nor of iron, calcium, or zinc ions. Prana cannot claim that they have ever run clinical trials involving innate human immunity.
