Can only add that if we don't print I doubt we can pay off much of our national and private debt when this is over in a contracted economy. Catch 22. If we don't, as you suggest we could be turning Japanese.
Best solution I have seen is Steve Keen's where we print and hand the money to the citizens to compulsorily retire debt or if/once debt free they can use it as they wish. All with caveats and within guidelines to manage the inflationary effects.
