The CMO and his deputy have repeatedly said that there is only two ways to deal with this virus, either a vaccine (12-18 months off) or they expect a large majority of the community to get it, some will be much sicker than others, the "lockdown" proceedure to to slow the rate of infection so that the hospitals can manage, self isolation and handwashing etc being very effective to this end The Govt's both state and Federal are working to prop up people and businesses financialy so that there is an economy to function as this either burns itself out of the vaccination process is available and works.
AS far a "lassize faire" economies go , show me one western econpmy that is actually open, we live in a mixed econpmy situation, free enterprise to a point with government regulations to protect people and the economy. No Ayn Rand anywhere here.
