Substitution is I think THE big risk with any cobalt stock, however big money says it's not going to happen anytime soon: VW looking for ten years supply, China spending billions on cobalt mines in DRC, the new NorthVolt gigafactory being planed in Sweden near a cobalt refinery - all these moves show that powerful companies with inside knowledge of the EV industry and massive research teams are betting cobalt will be required for a long time into the future
But then we just don't know...Which is why I like Barra
As I've just written in my last post, the market values Barra as a cobalt spec with a tiny bit of gold potential as a nice hedge on the side. However, with Barra's recent move to appoint a technical director with mine development experience, with their major shareholder being an underground gold mining company, and all the new work being undertaken to further define their estimated 500,000 ounces of gold prospects I think they have a decent chance of becoming a sustainable small gold producer.
Let's see what happens,
