What are the ironstones? I had some incorrect ideas about them before doing this research. The PDF below gives some idea of what they are though the jargon is beyond even most geologists who haven't specialised in the field (I suspect). Vaguely familiar terms but I have never seen rocks like these - at least I don't think so.
