@ces it is unfortunately not that simple. There are other processes that stem cells can be made from such as induced pluripotent stem cells that might likely be different enough not to be covered. MSB has defended its patents against using other sources of stem cells (e.g. fat tissue vs bone marrow).
The likelihood of engraftment and cancer formation relates not so much to quantities of cells used but how far down the path of differentiation they are.
The potency and manufacturing assays would likely set a minimum standard for other companies but I am not sure that they are proprietary and they will more likely be widely used assays and the secret source is proving their link to outcomes in people.
