Unfortunately the F35 isn't as good as everyone hopes. And the program is being dogged by issues of budget restraint, cutbacks, cancelled orders.

The F35 won't replace the F22. The F22 is a vastly superior platform, but the US can't afford to buy so many, so something was developed to try and be cheaper, but just as good. That philosophy rarely works and has shown it again in this case. As more countries pull out, the cost per unit keeps going up tpo, while being an inferior aircraft. Replace the B1 and B2? Uh, no. It's not designed for that role, even as a secondary role. Why do you think the US won't sell the F22 to many other countries? Because it kicks ass. They're happy to flog off the F35 because it poses no threat to the F22 if a rogue nation/person happened to get their hands on it.

The way the F35 program is going, it will face more cutbacks and decreased orders. It's a massive contract if QHL get it, but the company should not base their entire future prospects on this possibility, even if the contract does get signed.
