Thomas' announcement that she was donating the $167,500 cash bonus to the victims' families via the Red Cross came in an email time-stamped at 6.13pm. That puts the announcement just minutes after the Nine and Seven television news broadcasts had savaged her performance. Way too late.
It's awkward to announce the reopening of Dreamworld three days after the tragedy, even if Friday's depressed proceeds were to go to the Red Cross . . . and then to describe the decision to restart the theme park money machine as being made on the advice of psychologists, to help staff morale.
