The likes of Toyota (the most indebetd company in the world.), and for that matter, the rest of the japenese car industry has been caught asleep at the wheel as the EV revolution speeds past them. For a decade they keep saying that their revolutionary solid state battery and/or hydrogen is about to take the world by storm in just a few more years.... like a carrot on a stick..... they are dreaming.

The only full EV they have is abysmal and not even made by them. They seem to think the worlds car buyers who want affordable EV's are prepared to wait for the to get their act together ... yeah...just like they waited for Kodak & Nokia before them.... they are in for a rude shock as the X where ICE car sales decline meets the exponential rise of EV sales will be 2027 at the latest.

Hence the Japanese govt is alarmed that they may well lose thier entire car industry to China and Tesla and drag down the whole car dependent 50% of their economy with it, so have thrown a billion dollars at Toyota like a bucket of cold water for battery advancement to kickstart some urgent action. They need some advanced powerful battery tech that is very close to commerialisation and that isn't Chinese or American in a hurry..... they could do worse than throw some serious JV $$$ LI-s's way?
