Drilling rates are highly variable and therefore frustrating but perhaps work off 15m per 12 hour shift as an average. After a long break from drilling the rig will need to be re-commissioned no matter how good it's standby maintenance has been. Then ground conditions, driller and crew competence, weather conditions, site access, water access, etc all come into play. Drilling rates tend to increase as the programme continues. With good ground conditions, drill crew, and a well maintained rig then 40-50m per shift is not unusual.
