drill pipe 200ft per day, page-6

    Sue,

Thanks - this all seemed a bit too good to be true.

From what you are saying, it takes around 36 hours for each cycle. What sort of length of drill string can they retrieve each time?

If they were really to run at 200 foot per day this would imply 300 foot (10 sections) in each run! - Can't see that that is likely or possible!

Based on your figures and a probably more realistic retrieval of 60-90 foot at a time then 40-60 foot per day would seem to be the maximal possible rate - IF they don't need to pull the string, change to a mill bit and run the string again because of a hitch.

If say there were 600 foot to go this would give a timeframe for completion of 21 Jan at the earliest plus additional time for any further problems.

Do you give them any chance of completing retrieval by 23 Jan (As per there previous upper estimate of the time required?

Also - with the pipe in the casing there is no way they could have checked cementing integrity. I presume they will have to do that, with 12 hrs to run the tool, 24hrs to test, 12 hours to pull - total 48 hours. Is that a reasonable timeframe?

Then if there is a defect in cementing - I guess timeframe will depend on many times they need to perforate the casing and time to re-check once finished.

Maybe the Australia Day long weekend is the go - though would be happy if it were quicker than that.
