It should be dry enough when they are looking at doing it (probably the next month or so) hell, it's probably dry enough now to drill in one of the 4-5 locations. This wet season has been drier than average so there shouldn't be that much to worry about.

You don't have to be a local, just look at how the rainfall has affected the start of drilling activity over the years and add some time for nothing ever starting on time regardless of perfect ground conditions.

That is going to be 500 times more accurate than a local looking at a puddle in their back yard as it actually demonstrates the relationship between rainfall and drilling activity.
Also don't discount the distances involved here, "local" is a very relative thing. Don't be like an American that thinks they can see the Opera house in the morning and swing by Uluru in the afternoon.
Wally the joker is 600km away from Ungani as the crow flies which is further away than Melbourne is from Canberra and twice as far away as Sydney is.
It takes almost 10 hours to drive from Wyndham to Ungani! It's like someone from Sydney having to drive to Brisbane to check out the ground conditions, and remember, some of these drilling locations are almost 100km away from a main highway and aren't something you just drive past to check out on your day to day routine travel.
The total 2014 rainfall map shows Wyndham in the 900mm band, Ungani in the 600mm band and Commodore and Senagi in the 400mm band.
