A drill sergeant was told by his commanding officer that one of his cadet's mothers had died.
So all of his cadets were on parade, and the sergeant shouted out, "Smith, your mother's dead."
The poor cadet was overcome and collapsed on the spot.
The commanding officer ssw all this, and took the sergeant a side and told him he had to show some compassion. The lad had just lost his moter. The sergeant took this to heart and said next time I'll show more empathy, Sir.
A week later, Smith's father passed from the shock of losing his wife.
The commanding officer told the sergeant," this is a time to redeem yourself, now be gentle."
His unit was on parade. The sergeant fronts up an says, Attention, all those with fathers, one pace forward. Smith what are you doing?"
