The effective implementation date of the scheme is 14th Dec, if it is voted through by TPD holders on the 7th Dec. Trading of TPD shares will be suspended on the 14th Dec. So the sell STX/buy TPD can still occur for another week after the scheme vote. If the scheme has indeed been behind a lot of the short-selling in STX, it should stop after the 14th Dec and the short position should be covered not long after.
