Definitely an element of that. We feel better taking profit than crystallizing losses but......pullbacks are usually not this sudden and overwhelming. Usually a progressive retreat. This went nuts for 30 minutes two hours in.
skypunter did note the Alcoa Kwinana story, and I recall a year ago Alcoa were whining about high gas prices and unreliable supply. There may have been a conflation of news stories...maybe not.
an interesting morning. With no cricket, tennis, NFL etc...fortuitous timing. Almost capricious.
