HOW THE HELL WILL LABOUR BE ABLE TO LIFT THE MORATORIUM
ON GAS DRILLING AND FRACKING ?
To pass legislation the new Government will need to wrangle at least seven extra votes from a group so diverse it might resemble the bar scene from Star Wars.
Results for eight upper house regions finalised on Tuesday by the Victorian Electoral Commission show Labor will control just 14 of 40 legislative council seats.
The remaining positions will be held by 14 Liberals, two Nationals, five Greens, two Shooters and Fishers Party MPs and one each for the Sex Party, the Democratic Labour Party and Vote 1 Local Jobs.
In absence of support from the Coalition, Labor's best hope will be to win support from the five Greens, the Sex Party's Fiona Patten and either the Vote 1 Local Jobs MP-elect James Purcell or the DLP MP-elect Rachel Carling-Jenkins.
It will be a tall order, given the competing imperatives of the Greens and the various micro parties.
Already, the Greens are looking to flex their new-found legislative brawn.
