The rig H&P 228 is being used to drill Menzel Horr-1; not M&H 242. But, thanks for the Winstar connection as it had a lot of interesting details on drilling in Tunisia including a statement attributed to ETAP "For 2007, 41 wells were drilled, 21 of them were discoveries (all oil)" - over 50% success rate for the country and COE giving a COS of 30% for MH-1.

Jacka Resources ASX Release 21 December 2010 stated:

"Australian Oil and Gas Explorer Jacka Resources Limited (�Jacka�) is pleased to inform shareholders and investors that the mobilisation of H&P Rig 228 began on 20 December 2010 and is anticipated to take around 7 days to complete. The rig will be used to drill Menzel Horr-1 (MHR-1) in the Bargou Block, Operated by Cooper Energy Limited (ASX: COE).
The company will put out a further update, in conjunction with the Operator upon spud of the well."

We should get a spud announcement today or Tuesday at the latest if anyone is not on holiday that can post the announcement. The JKA release was not copied to the COE ASX reports and I did not see it until today.

Jacka also announced Dec 1:

MHR-1 is the first of two wells to be drilled in the block by the Operator, with Hammamet West-3 appraisal well planned for mid-2011. The well will take approximately 25 days to drill and will target 24 million barrels of recoverable resources (P50). The operator has production tests planned for each of the three targeted formations in the success case.

COE are holding 85% of MH-1 and appear to be free carried by Jacka on drilling costs plus recovery of past expenses.
