Diamond Drilling - As core is drilled, it is laid out in core trays in sequence of drilling. This goes back to a core yard were geologists log the core. The zone of mineralisation is then split in equal 50/50 using a core saw.

The other 50% sample is then sent for crushing, sifting, sorting, then sent to a laboratory for analyzing.
RC Drilling - Chips are collected per meter drilled. Chips are slit using a rifler into 50/50 split.
The same applies for diamond core, sent for crushing and pulverizing, then sent for analysis.
No results may be issued until the results are officially released from the sample analysis.
So it is not so much as drilling and getting an instant result
