No worries, resistivty of water saturated rock is much lower, that's how they can tell if it's a duster or not.

Gas has even higher resistivity readings.

So Defender has oil, but they know that before they even drilled it (London Flats), Defender is all about flowrates, SOA is all about if oil is even there.

Most reservoirs (from the bottom up) contain water, then oil and finally gas. The all fluids are under pressure and as the oil / gas is extracted the water rises up to fill the void, eventually the well will water out.

Sometimes the hydrocarbon will have escaped or migrated elsewhere and the reservoir contains only water. This is one of the risks for SOA, that is not present in Defender.

So yes, water can easily be there.
