If the probability was 50% then assuming at the current $1.05 price, if it ran dry, the share price went back to say 75 cents but moved up to say $1.85 initially on a successful well , then we could lose 30 cents or gain 80 cents.

These are very good odds. But if the prob.> 50%, then the odds will look even better.

I believe that if it were a successful well, the attendant publicity and Announcements you referred to + any Announcements re pipelines could quickly bring the price well over $2.

Let us hope that this is the one.
