Murchison completes Guinea uranium drilling


Murchison United has successfully completed the first phase of its uranium exploration program in West Africa, with the completion of a 2,050m reverse circulation drilling program at the company’s Firawa Prospect in southern Guinea.

Drill core samples are currently en route to Canada for multi-metal analytical processing, which will be released to the market as they become available.

Following the completion of this first drilling program in West Africa, Murchison is now negotiating access to a drilling rig in order to commence a drilling program at its licences in the Bir En Nar region in Mauritania.

Depending upon drill rig availability, the company’s aim is to commence drilling within two to three months.

Murchison currently holds five uranium exploration permits in Mauritania, covering a total area of 7,000sqkm.

According to Murchison, reprocessed historic airborne radiometric data have indicated a number of prospective uranium anomalies within these tenements, which returned encouraging grades of up to 9,500ppm U3O8. Murchison has said that drilling will initially focus on the Bir En Nar region.

The company has been granted six Uranium exploration licences in the Republic of Guinea. The company has also been granted two Uranium exploration licences in the Republic of Mauritania and is waiting for the outcome of a further four licence applications currently being processed.
