Weekly Activity
The well is currently drilling and at 6am December 7 was at a depth of 1,202m. Following on from the oil shows over the Bed V – Bed VII interval, excellent gas shows (Total Gas readings of over 200 units) have been encountered in at least three sandstone sections in the Cretaceous. The high gas readings necessitated raising the mud weight significantly to ensure continued safe drilling. The well will be drilled to total depth to evaluate the gas potential in the lower reservoir beds before logging. Work continues on COG Mailisu III #1 in preparation for the planned perforation and testing of the oil zones next week.
