As far as I'm aware busylion there is no link. Underground operations ceased at GF around 1908, much before GC was mined. GF is flooded these days and the old shaft isn't in a good condition so if the ore continues towards GC you would save significantly by not having to re-open and develop the old GF shaft as well as pump out all that water.
