drilling speeds ofwells in texas and louisiana

There is a new TV program/series stateside called Black Gold that appears on True TV and is a moment by moment view of three teams of roughnecks who run three drilling rigs in Texas drilling for oil and gas. I have been on some wells in Loisiana where Aussie companies were involved (some years ago). If all goes well (pun) u can get up to 500 feet per day but in most cases the rate is slower due to multiple factors. So assuming around 400 feet per day at Bandito we should be at target depth in about four days.

The Chalkely well has been completed as a producer, that includes setting pipe in the ground for testing and providing "plumbing" on the surface for control of the well. A much smaller workover rig will be dispatched to the well to test the oil zones. In the Chakley well they intersected two oil zones when they were expecting one. Going back thru TRX PR they make reference to potential at this well being (max) up above 5 million barrels recoverable with an anticipated 2.4 more likely. Only the testing of the well will reveal the true resource but the odds might now lie with a slightly higher figure and closer to the maximum calculation. good luck to all longs.
