My take on the cement integrity test is to try an ensure we dont get formation water buggering up the gas flow.
If you remember when the well was drilled, the first attempt failed due to high level of formation water in shallow sections of well and they had to skid the rig over and restart with mud rather than air.
Therefore if the cement job is not up to standard water could run down the outside of the steel casing from shallow sections to the gas charged sands and bugger up gas recovery.
And in the reverse we could bugger up the aquifer with our frac fluid running up between the steel casing and cement to the fresh aquifer we drilled through.
Very smart and responsible to take this course of action, not sure what they will do if the cement job is not up to standard but certainly we would be able to sue for poor performance the drilling contractor to recover the cost of the well possibly even claim on insurance.
But you would have to think there would be some sort of remediation work that could be done also probably at the prior drill contractors expense.
