Hi pintoa2000,
bops are stardard equipment on these rigs without them if they had a blowout it could destroy the rig .
its stardard practice as they approach the area of pressure build up to test the bops ,they are like a radial engine that when the gas /oil escapes to the surface uncontrolled the bops even the pressure by allowing the fluid to escape out of many valves taking away the punch .
all is going good at the moment right on shedule.
