yes the operator would know that, as they run logs on reaching casing point. In the Browse, the thick Vulcan section overlies the Jcal marker, so is considered safe to stop drilling & run casing.

IMO the nxt 150m will b crucial to pick the JCal horizon once drilling starts.

Remember this is a tilted block, so if the formations r dipping south (3.90kms frm P#1 towards B#1) then the Plover etc could come in deeper. Which is why the casing point for the 8.5" holes was 4805m, much deeper then P#2 (4700m) & P#1 (4588m).

So what's nxt? Business end of the show starts now.

Start drilling the 6" section to TD,

1) Drill to any indicative gas shows frm the sands (thus exploring the possibility of the presence of Montara 'sand blanket' or not),

2) If yes, then (mayb) core it (12m was cored at P#2, so valuable reservoir info can b assessed frm the core).

3) Then drill on to the Plover sands,

4) If gas shows/drill breaks frm any porous sands r seen, then run the core barrel & drill to TD (5300m+ going by their P#2 reports where they cored 62m of the Plvr B sand).

5) Run logs to chk the Gas-Water contact in the C sands & pick test intervals, take fluid/HC samples etc (so run production liner, cement it & perforate it for testing, b4 P&A move to Zeph#1).

Or, just drill to TD, run logs, run production liner, test the Plover & P&A the well to mobilise to Z#1.

Getting close to Annual report season, so fingers crossed for the newsflow to come from Boreas-1. Almost there.
