I think those in the business believe the area has the potential to be a signifcant oil/gas producer. We all know this is wildcat territory in terms of the chances in Backreef 1, however a positive from all the reports, apart from the seismic confidence, is the fact that this is the first time the Clanmeyer formation has been the focus of drilling in the Canning Basin. The Blina oil and gas "updip" at the edges of the formation could also be motivating OBL. The duster talk is only relevant if you are drilling into the same dry dirt. The 1.5 litres of oil found in the Mirbelia well must have stirred some furtive glances from the boys around the wellhead, deciding who would take it home to top up the Victa.
