AN anti-drinking campaign has appealed to vanity by warning women that if they drink like men they'll look like one, a British newspaper reports.

The Daily Mail reports the posters, displayed on London’s Underground transport network, show a woman with saggy skin and a red bulbous nose. The message reads: “If you drink like a man you might end up looking like one”.

The campaign, devised by the Drug and Alcohol Service for London, warns women that excessive drinking leads to bad skin, premature ageing and weight gain.

Alcohol campaigner Harrinder Dhillion told the Daily Mail: “Women are clearly not reacting to the health warnings and drinking among females is getting worse year on year.”

Research by the Drug and Alcohol Service found that two in five women said weight gain would stop them from drinking too much, while only a third were concerned about heart disease.

The British Government has also launched a £10 million ($20.5m) campaign targeting excessive drinking, which includes warning women about the link between alcohol abuse and breast cancer.
