Started trying to resolve this question after your last post and then got caught up in the tragic events of the weekend. Spent yesterday trying to set up a range extender (Netgear N300). Then ended up in the Gateway page. Successfully and in blissful ignorance, disconnected everything!! (Fools step in ...).
Reset router and extender to factory default. Eventually got the extender to connect to the router and then to the clients! Speed has increased twelvefold, and no signal dropouts.
