    Yeah, I've experienced it...

    The gun only shows a speed reading - lidar is clever, but it doesn't show licence plates...yet. The (stationary) photo cameras of course do.

    The newer guns are technically very good, they can tell if they have skipped vehicles, and the courts accept a police account of events using these guns.

    Of course, a cop could "keep" a previous reading, and accuse you of doing it. Most western people just accept authoritative accusations (at least initially), and the discretion in speeding offences ends when the cop's pen starts writing the ticket.

    So, how fast were you going? If you were doing that speed, cough up. If you have been falsely accused, good luck in the court, but most of the majistrates discretion has recently been legislated away, and the offence can only be proved or disproved, not reduced in size or penalty.
