re: driving offence - grahold It sounds to me like it was mobile radar. Lidar (the laser gun) cannot be used in mobile mode because it must be held accurately pointed at a particular part of the vehicle not allowed to wander all over the car.
The patrol car (police) was coming toward you and his radar would have detected a speeder and locked two speeds. There would be two speeds on the display in the car - one was the speeder's speed and one was the patrol car speed. Then he turned around and caught up and pulled you over. Is that how it was?
Or was the police car stopped in the median strip using radar or aiming a lidar gun?
