Military agencies prefer buying from the same vendor once a relationship has been established. Additionally, from vendors with a reputation in the industry.
Competitors will always exist in some shape or form, so not sure why this is a surprise to you? Tesla originally had the first consumer EV, competitors arrived, yet Teslas SP is still rising.
If someone’s counter argument is going to be “yeah but civilians can’t make EVs”. What makes you think the US military will buy a drone made by a civilian?
