A temporary uptrend in a descending market.
When a stock is in freefall, it will usually hit an area of support where the SP moves higher, but could continue to move lower.
If you throw a dead cat off the tallest building you can find, the body will slam into the ground so hard it bounces back up off the ground, before settling back down.
Dead cat bounce.
