"It wasnt caused by the extrapolative rise in market cap to an eye-popping $2bn in just a few short months?" – absolutely correct. The eye-watering valuation surge created the conditions where something was going to cause a slump. I thought the next quarterly report might cause it. If not that then I thought the half-yearly report might. But in the end, it was somebody dropping a lot of shares on the market.
"Nope def the evil shorts" – wrong. Short traders aren't evil. They create excellent buying opportunities. And as long as the underlying business is sound, any impact they might have on share price is temporary. They also provide a valuable income stream for the long holders who loaned them their shares.
