Nah, engineering or not, graduates in all industries (unless they are mature graduates with some experience) are typically too green to offer anything substantive, until they get their hands dirty and some mud on their boots.
What is interesting however, are the new COO and Legal Counsel positions being advertised.
Along with the numerous technical/engineering/sales director roles, the new COO position is a symbol of rapid, aggressive expansion and growth. I genuinely hope they find a strong candidate with
1. Senior Management position in the private sector
2. Prior ADF experience. Needs to be a senior Officer (minimum rank LTCOL or Navy/Air Force equivalent)
The Legal Counsel position is great because it means they have in-house experience to assist with drafting, review (due diligence), execution and administration of Contracts, agreements and commercial systems management. This ensures DRO are much better protected from dodgy, non paying customers and only sign up to agreeable terms. This is a nice addition to the team, and absolutely essential as the big Contracts roll in.
