Anattacker can win by concentrating his forces at one point. It is accepted that a defending force has a 3:1 advantage over an attacker. In other words, a defending force can hold off three times its own number of attackers.
This may not be strictly true when applied to drone warfare but it does call into question the premise that offense is always cheaper than defense. It certainly does apply to the infantry war in Ukraine a.k.a. the meat grinder.
