In my experience, companies that have had their share prices collapse following short seller reports, do respond, addressing the content of the report.
All of the small caps that I have followed closely have done so. NEU is one that did just recently.

As for Oleg: A question was asked, first by the ASX, and then by a Shareholder or shareholdes. He had to respond.

Going to Court? A company can certainly do that, but I am not aware of Oleg saying he is doing that. In my view, the shorter simply said he is shorting, and I do not see anything illegal about stating an intention to take a legally permitted position on a legally tradeable asset.

But, I hear the guy has now deleted some of his social media posts, so I don't know what else he did that he might feel needs hiding? If he did wrong, then may the responsible authorities do their job. But if he is innocent - good for him.
