I wouldn't rely to much on the ASX daily numbers as they include shorts being closed on the day - the ASIC site is the only accurate guide but its always a lagging indicator - the short graph gives a better idea of the trend
there was 84m short in June ( year high )
there was 52m short in September ( year low )
there are currently 73m short as of Mondays latest report
