The huge tracts of Australia locked up as national parks are a national tragedy causing environmental destruction on a massive scale.
When white man landed in Australia it was open woodland and grassy plains it had developed this way and was maintained this way by the aboriginal people so as to make the environment suitable for animals and to facilitate hunting.
City base environmentalists and politicians mistakenly thought that if you locked the land up as a national park it would revert to how it was originally.
Over 800 national parks have been established in NSW alone, far too much land for available staff to maintain. They have locked gates and rocks placed across fire trails to exclude vehicles, fire trails have not been maintained and the bush has become overgrown and so dense that it is impassable, massive fuel loads have been built up, many areas have not been burned for up to 30 years.
We have the perfect storm of massive fuel loads, a combined Indian ocean dipole and a Pacific El Nino causing a massive drought .
The resulting extreme fires will have killed most of the trees and all of the wildlife.
The mosaic pattern of cool burns carried out by the aboriginals maintained the environment and ensured a healthy population of native animals.
