CP and CBR
I like DRP's in general, over time most have performed well for me, obviously works best in a rising market,which hopefully won't be far away.
Great for the kids with small holdings, as brokerage becomes an issue on small purchases.
Also some stocks give a percentage discounted price.
I am not great at picking the bottoms, so tend end up with an averaged cost base.
As far as the book-keeping goes I use a book-keeping software which keeps track of the cost bases and I can then choose which purchase dates I want to sell for maximum or minimum capital gain. Helps to minimize tax.
I generally try to accumulate rather than trade.
I imagine DRP's would be a nightmare for traders who sell after the ex-date only to discover later that they still hold the stock.
I guess whatever works for you.
