for years drug testing has been available in the ACT. NSW Lib Premier and the current Premier have both said no drug testing will be done at music festivals.

for over 50 years music festivals and drugs, including alcohol, have been in the mix. this is not and has never been unexpected. Police actions, including sniffer dogs and even strip searches, have not prevented drug use at any music venues. clearly prohibition has not worked. prohibition has never worked.

today there are reports that 2 men in their 20s have died at a music festival in Western Sydney, and 9 people have been evacuated to hospital, with others treated at the venue by paramedics.

at Sydney Olympic Park another man was being treated by paramedics and was transferred to hospital where he also died.

a 21-year-old man was treated at a hotel on George Street in Chippendale, before he was transported to hospital where he also died.

Detective Superintendent Simon Glasser said police were waiting for autopsy reports before concluding how the men died, and would not confirm they were drug overdoses.

the issue of drug related deaths and hospitalisations from drug, including alcohol, related matters has gone on too long as young people die and lives destroyed, families bereaved.

drug testing at music venues in at ACT have proven efficacy according to the National Drug Alcohol Research Centre.

Should drug testing be available at all music venues?
